Mrs. Amanda Braley
My dear Auntie I will try this afternoon to write a few lines in answer to your
dear sweet letter of a few days ago. I was so glad to know you got home and
the trip didn't make you sick for you was so hoarse I was uneasy about you. I
came home that night from Alberts and I was in bed for too weeks with flu and
grief together. Oh Aunt we have been so lonely since our papa went away and
left us. I feel like some times I can't ever stand it. When mama left us we
had him left but now they are both gone. I feel like I want to go too but of
course I can't until the good lord calls for me but heaven seems so near by with
them and Edgar are all there. Oh Auntie I am so glad you were here and glad Doss
came to. I think I have got such a good able man for a cousin. I sure do love
him and I hope I get to come see you all this summer but don't know just yet.
Aunt Mandy I hope you are well and feeling good all the time and I trust all
the rest is well. How is cousin Dora's boy is he all right? I was so sorry to
hear of Boots losing her boy. Well the weather is pretty raw but we sure have
lots of rain washed every boddys crops away and they had to plant over sure is
hard on the farmers. We are still living in the School building but we won't
be here when school starts this fall and Mr. Barksdale don't know if he will
have the job anymore or not but we hope to anyway. I am still keeping the little
baby and I keep another little fellow through the day only on Sundays his mother
is working and I keep the baby for her she is only the child's step mother so
I don't think she cares much about him. Well Jim's and Albert's folks are all
well. Auntie tell Doss and Ada I will write to them sometime soon. Nova said
you all got the things we sent you. I hope they were all in good condition when
they got there. Well deare Auntie I will close for this time hoping you will
answer real soon and a long letter for I am so lonely and am always so glad to
heare from my dear old Auntie. I still remain your loving neice until death.
Millie
Tell all the rest helo for me.
