Second Generation

3. Mary E. BISHOP was born on Feb 22, 1799. She joined the Bethany Baptist Church in Lawrence Co., MS on Jan 18, 182310 She died on Feb 25, 1828.1 She was dismissed on Jan 17, 1835 on application from the Bethany Baptist Church, Lawrence Co., MS

It is not certain that this is a daughter of William. However, all available evidence points to that. In the 1820 Lawrence Co., MS census, the James Carlisle family resided between William's family on one side, and the James R. Bishop family on the other. Adjacent to the James R. Bishop family was the family of William White and his wife, Fanny Bishop, another child of William Bishop.

The birth and death dates of Mary appears in the Bishop Bible but, there is no marriage recorded for her as is for her other siblings. The question remains as to whether or not Mary is a daughter of William Bucner, or if she ever married.

In any event, there was a Mary Carlise listed as a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Sandy Creek, Lawrence Co., MS.
