31. Joseph M. BISHOP was born on May 29, 1827 in Alabama.¹ Joseph's relationship to the Hezekiah Bishop family is not exactly clear. Walker writes that he is possibly a son of William Bishop but, more likely a grandson. Joseph is not included in the 1997 paper by David N. Bishop, The Bishops of Spartanburg Co., SC, p27.

Joseph M. BISHOP and Lidia CATO were married on Jan 2, 1850 in Union Co., AR.^1,135 They appeared in the census on Nov 11, 1850 in Union Co., AR.¹³⁶ Joseph M. BISHOP and Lidia CATO had the following children:
