Minden, La.
Services for Mrs. A. L. (Ora B.) Coffee, 100, of Minden, will be held at 2 p.m.
Friday March 9 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Dr. Ronald Prince
will officiate. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. Mrs. Coffee, born in Springhill,
La. and a lifelong resident of Minden, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 1984
at Humana Hospital in Minden after a lengthy illness. She was a member of the
American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Coffee was a housewife and was Baptist. She is
survived by two sons, Dr. James L. "Pat" Coffee and Harry Coffee of
Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Miss Ruby Coffee of Shreveport, La. and Mrs.
Myra Lee Coffee Rea of Tyler, Texas; a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers; grandsons. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be
made to charity of donor's choice. She was buried in Mar 1984 in City Cemetery,
Minden, Webster Parish, LA. Ora Elizabeth BRALEY and Albert Lilburn

COFFEE (son of James M. COFFEE and Mary Elizabeth BOWMAN) was born on Jan
22, 1873 in Texas. Only evidence found that A. L. Coffee was born
in Abilene came through his tales told to older grandchildren.. He appeared
in the census in 1880 in Bowie Co., TX, enumerated with his mother and step-father,
William Watson.. He was mostly self-employed in farming, and the
oil, gas and timber business He registered for the WW1 draft on Sep
12, 1918 in Emmet, Hempstead Co., AR127
Albert was age 45 and residing in Emmet, AR at the time of registration on
Sep. 12, 1918. He gave Jan. 22, 1873 as his date of birth; place of birth was
not given. His nearest relative was wife, Ora Coffee. He was a self-employed
farmer, described as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and black
hair. The Registrar's Report was signed by Leroy Samuel.
