6. William Jasper
DELAFIELD was born on Mar 9, 1823 in Tennessee. He was a
planter. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Bossier Parish, LA.
He died on Jan 30, 1865 in Sarepta, Webster Parish, LA. He was buried
in 1865 in Taylor Academy Cemetery, Cullen, Webster Parish, LA.
Wm. Jasper Delafield in 1850 and 1860 was a planter in Bossier Parish, La., who's
P.O. was Cotton Valley, La. Today, Cotton Valley is a town in Webster Parish.
He was a Methodist Minister in 1845 when he came to Bossier Parish with his parents.

Wm. J. Delafield entered TS21, R10W, SE of Cotton Valley, LA, with the purchase
of about 40 acres in S22 on Dec. 13, 1855 and an additional 80 acres in S22 on
Oct. 29, 1858. [O'Bier] William Jasper DELAFIELD and Cynthia MOORE were married
on Jan 15, 1846 in Tennessee. They appeared in the census on Dec
9, 1850 in Bossier Parish, LA.6
"Great Grandma Delafield and her husband, William, moved to Cotton Valley,
La. from Sparta and Spencer, Tennessee in 1848 or 49. They planned to stay one
year, make a crop, and move on to Texas. Due to crop failure, they did not move
to Texas, but moved northeast 8 miles and homesteaded a tract of land between
Sarepta and Shongaloo. My brother, Elton and I own 40 acres of this original
homestead." William died in 1865 "...with T.B. He had had the disease

in possession of writer.] Cynthia MOORE (daughter
of Thomas MOORE and Sarah Lucinda DOYLE) was born on Mar 25, 1826 in White Co.,
TN. She appeared in the census on Jun 30, 1880 in Webster Parish,
LA.7 She appeared in the
census in 1900 in Webster Parish, LA. Enumerated with widowed daughter,
America Kansas Delafield Houston She died on Jul 4, 1907 in Sarepta, Webster
Parish, LA.
"..the Moore family also came to Sarepta from Tennessee and homesteaded
land at this time. The Moores and the Delafields came to Louisiana by ox wagons.
It is reported that on coming down through Arkansas an ox broke loose - swam
the Mississippi and went back home to Spencer or Sparta, Tennessee. Grandma Delafield,
as a little girl, lived on the Cumberland River in Tennessee." "..in
the early 1900's Granny Delafield broke up housekeeping and moved in with my
Grandmother, Kansas Houston - Granny Delafield died July 4, 1907. Her husband,
William, died in 1865." [Braley, 1967]
In 1880, Cynthia Moore Delafield was a widow residing in Bossier Parish with
4 of her children. Cynthia resided with her daughter Kansas Houston in 1900
and said that she was the mother of 10 of whom 3 was living. (Pate) William

Argon DELAFIELD was born on Mar 16, 1854 in Louisiana. She died
in 1934 in Louisiana. In the list of children [Braley to Blunt] from
the union of William and Cynthia Moore Delafield, the child in this position
on his list is named Ida. She: "died a single girl.....died in 1934."

Emilia Argon, along with Dora Ellen Delafield, "died as young ladies only

18, 1856 in Louisiana. She died on Aug 24, 1868 in Louisiana.
Dora, along with Emilia Argon, "died as single young ladies only 2 weeks
