First Generation
1. Benjamin B. HUBERT was born about 1720 in Alsace-Lorraine,
France.1
The Sarah Donelson Hubert work describes Benjamin as being low in stature, of
very dark complexion, dark hair and eyes, rather stout, very active, systematic
and orderly in all his work. He was a farmer, and a member of the Presbyterian
faith.
Benjamin emigrated to America sometime before 1746. He lived for a number of
years in Virginia, then moved to Caswell County, NC. About 1786 he moved from
North Carolina to Georgia, settling in Warren County, which at that time was
still part of Greene County.
He married Mary Williams, widow of Paul Williams, in Frederick Co., Va, in 1748.
They first moved to Caswell Co., NC, then in 1785/6 they moved to Wilkes Co.,(now
Warren Co.), GA.
His will is dated 26 July 1793, and was the first will filed in Warren County.
Executors were John Rutherford, Matthew Hubert, and David Hubert. Testifiers
were Matthew Hubert, Elijah Runnels and Gibson Flournoy.
Benjamin B. HUBERT and Mary WILLIAMS were married in 1748 in Virginia.2 Benjamin
