LAURENT, RALEIGH JOSEPH "PAP"
Died 11:23 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 1992, at his residence in St. Amant. He was 82
and a native of Edgard. He was a retired auto mechanic for the Burnside terminal
and employed for the past eight years at the Ascension Vo-tech School in the
Mechanic Department through the Senior Employment Agency of Baton Rouge. Visiting
at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant, at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Tom Ranzino. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery
Mausoleum. Survived by wife, Velma Guedry Laurent, St. Amant; two daughters,
Anna Mae Jeansonne, Galvez, and Barbara Ann Cantillo, Lutcher; a son, Charles
Gilbert Laurent Sr., Gonzales; three sisters, Therese Counts, Gramcery, Sue McPherson,
Mission, Texas, and Martha Becnel, Algiers; a brother, Roger A. Laurent, Gonzales;

grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Leopold
and Elodie Hymel Laurent; and three brothers, Stephen, Maurice and Leonce Laurent
Sr.
He was buried on Jul 8, 1992 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church cemetery, St. Amant,
Ascension Parish, LA. Raleigh Joseph (Pap)
