MARTHA LAURENT BECNEL
Martha Laurent Becnel, a homemaker, died Saturday at her home. She was 87. Mrs.
Becnel was born in Edgard and lived in Algiers for the past 68 years. She was
a parishioner of St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church and its Third Order of Mary.
Survivors include her husband, Fabien J. Becnel Sr.; three sons, Warren, Wayne
and Fabien Becnel Jr.; a daughter, Lorraine Becnel Bryant; a brother, Roger Laurent;
two sisters, Therese Laurent Counts and Elodie Laurent McPherson; 19 grandchildren;
and 26 great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Julien
Eymard Catholic Church, 2727 Lawrence St., Algiers. Visitation will begin at
9 a.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mothe Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements.
