On Sep 28, 1885, J. F. Delafield gave two acres of land in the NE of the NE4 of the SE4 of S36, R10W, TS23N, located today just east of present day Porterville, (LA) on which to construct a Methodist Church, in which the community may have school taught. The property was to be held in trust by F. C. Hodges, president of the Board of Trustees of church property. The church/school was called Blocker's Chapel. It was stipulated in the deed that should the house be removed off the land, that the property will revert to the donor. The deed was attested to by John B. King, M. M. Leonard and W. B. Delafield.
