Archie worked for Standard Oil, later Humble Oil and Refining for 32 years. He retired in 1958. He died on Mar 22, 1990 in Baton Rouge, EBR Parish, LA.

Died 8:10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 1990, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 93, a native of Stoney Point and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired Exxon Co. USA employee, with 31 years service, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 9 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by wife, Lillian S. Roe; a daughter, Margaret Dauthier, Pride; a sister, Myrta Smith, Denham Springs; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Maggie Roe; two daughters, Velma Imogene Roy and Lucille Bright; a son, Archie Allen Roe Jr.; a sister, Ida Mae Sullivan; and two brothers, Frank and Lee Roe. Archie Allen ROE and Lillian Bell SMITH were married on Mar 29, 1919 in Baton Rouge, EBR Parish, LA.67 Photo Lillian Bell SMITH (daughter of Angus McNeil SMITH and Mary Amelia MCCLENDON) was born on Aug 6, 1900 in Baton Rouge, EBR Parish, LA. She appeared in the census on Jan 2, 1920 in East Baton Rouge Parish, LA.68 She was a practical nurse. Lillian was a Practical Nurse, and in later years worked in private duty for patients who were unable to leave home. She died on May 6, 1993 in Baton Rouge, EBR Parish, LA.69

Died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 1993, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 92, a native of Baywood and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. until religious services at the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. George Threeton. Burial in Bluff Creek Cemetery. Survived by a daughter, Margaret R. Dauthier, Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren, Yvonne Boe, Baton Rouge, Richard Fitzgerald, Portland, Ore., Charles "Chuck" Fitzgerald, Conroe, Texas, Faye Thorton, Liberty, Miss., Conrad Dauthier Jr., Jarreau, Don Dauthier, New Caney, Texas, Sherry Demoulin, Zachary, Violet Austin, Zachary, Susan Graham, Baton Rouge, Mark Long, Big Horn, Colo., and Mike Long, Houston, Texas; 49 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Archie Roe Sr.; two daughters, Velma Roy and Lucille Bright; a son, Archie Allen Roe Jr.; and two grandsons, A.J. Fitzgerald and Raymond Fitzgerald. Pallbearers will be Marshall and Joshua Austin, Ken Demoulin, Chuck Fitzgerald, Don and Conrad Dauthier. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Boe and A.P. Smith. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

[This obituary was prepared by her daughter Margaret, and for unknown reasons I was omitted as a grandchild. Lillian raised me from birth, and I called her "Mama" all of her life.]
