JOHN ROE SR.
John E. Roe Sr., 70, a native of Bayou Chene and resident of Morgan City, died
Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. A private service will be held following cremation and
burial at sea. He is survived by his wife, Eda Dell Verrett Roe; four sons, Edward
Thomas Roe Sr. of Bayou Vista, Michael Howard Roe of Missouri, John E. Roe Jr.
of Alexandria, and Ernest James Roe of Morgan City; one daughter, Jeannie Roe
Burnes; two brothers, Eugene Roe of Denham Springs, and Charles Roe of Morgan
City; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Edward and Maude Veret Roe; and two sisters, Minnie Green and
Winnie Smallman. He was president of Louisiana Crawfish Association, a U.S. Navy
veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post no. 442 and a member of AARP.
He was cremated in Jan 1998 in in Morgan City, and buried at sea. John
E. ROE and Eva Dell VERRETT were married about 1946. Eva
Dell VERRETT was born on Aug 26, 1931. John E. ROE and Eva Dell
VERRETT had the following children:
