2. John SLACK was born in 1823 in Feliciana Parish, LA. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Bossier Parish, LA.⁶ He died in 1888 in Webster Parish, LA. He was buried in 1888 in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Shongaloo, Webster Parish, LA.

John SLACK and Martha MCCARTY appeared in the census on Jun 1, 1880 in Webster Parish, LA.⁷ L. Ernestine Coyle Collins writes that John's wife, Martha was buried in the McCarty Cemetery, but she does not list her in the McCarty Cemetery inventory John SLACK and Martha MCCARTY had the following children:
