6. Richard SLACK was born on May 30, 1830.¹⁶ He served during the Civil War from Apr 30, 1862 to Jul 4, 1863 in Louisiana and Mississippi with the 27th La. Infantry. He died on Oct 15, 1876. He was buried in Oct 1876 in Springhill, Webster Parish, LA.

Richard SLACK and Harriet Elizabeth TYLER were married on Mar 4, 1851 in Bossier Parish, LA.¹⁷ They appeared in the census on Jul 8, 1870 in Bossier Parish, LA.¹⁸ Harriet Elizabeth TYLER (daughter of Albert TYLER and Nancy __________) was born on Apr 5, 1837 in Alabama. She died in Texas. She was buried in Brownwood, Brown Co., TX. She appeared in the census in Jun 1880 in Brown Co., TX, enumerated in the household with her son Joe, and other children.¹⁹
Coyle-Collins writes that Harriet Elizabeth Tyler Slack, wife of Richard, is probably buried at Brownwood, Texas. All the sons of Richard except William Marion, took their mother and her daughters and moved to Brownwood, Texas (or Coldthwait?), in the winter of 1877-78. [nb: apparently Georgia did not accompany the family to Texas as she did not appear in the 1880 census with the family.] Richard SLACK and Harriet Elizabeth TYLER had the following children:

33	vii.	Henry Clay SLACK was born in Dec 1866 in Texas. He appeared in the census in Jun 1880 in Brown Co., TX, enumerated in the household with brolther Joe, his mother and other siblings. This could be the Henry Slack found in Reeves Co., TX, ED68, Sheet 5B.dwelling/family 125.
