COGHLAN, NANNIE R.
Died 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 1995, at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite. She
was 97, a native of East Baton Rouge Parish and a resident of Kentwood. Visiting
at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, 10:30 a.m. until religious services at 1
p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. J.P. Miles. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
Survived by a daughter, Terry Coghlan, New Orleans; a grandson, Donald Coghlan,
Sterling, Va.; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Roe, Cothage
Grove, Ore. Preceded in death by a son, Cecil L. Coghlan. She was buried on
Mar 24, 1995 in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, Tangipahoa Parish, LA. Nannie
Olive ROE and Thomas Jefferson (Luke) COGHLAN were married on Jan 2, 1918 in
Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, LA. They appeared in the census on
Jan 13, 1920 in East Feliciana Parish, LA.208
They appeared in the census on Apr 2, 1930 in Tangipahoa Parish, LA.209
In an interview with Charles Roe on April 14, 1994 Nannie related that in about
1920 her mother took 3 or 4 of the younger children and left John. She lived
for awhile with a son in Mississippi, and later with a child in Bogalusa. Charles
said that Nannie shocked him when she told him that "I don't know why mamma
left papa but she burnt the house down before she left." Thomas
Jefferson (Luke) COGHLAN (son of Benjamin Franklin (Doc) COGHLAN and Savilla
HODGE) was born on Apr 22, 1875 in Ruth, Lincoln Co., MS. He died
on Nov 16, 1949 in Louisiana. Nannie Olive ROE and Thomas Jefferson
(Luke) COGHLAN had the following children:

COGHLAN, TERRY MAE
Terry Mae Goghlan, 78, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Sunrise Senior Living
at Live Oak Village, Hammond. A native of Kentwood, she was a bank clerk.
Survivors include one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents,
Luke Coghlan and Nannie Rose Coghlan; and one brother, Cecil Coghlan. The
Rev. Bradley Rushing will conduct a graveside service Monday at Woodland
Cemetery, Kentwood. McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, is in charge. She was
buried on Dec 28, 2004 in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, Tangipahoa Parish, LA. |
